Out of the 1960s Chicago sound that spawned The Buckinghams, The New Colony Six, The Shadows of Knight, and The Cryan' Shames, came The American Breed, a very popular band on the Chicago club scene. Formed in 1966 in Cicero, Illinois, the Breed first saw life as Gary and the Knight Lites. Gary Loizzo was their vocalist, Al Ciner played guitar, Lee Graziano was the drummer, and Chuck Colbert played bass. While with Acta Records, the group cut several singles which failed to chart well beyond the Chicago area. It wasn't until their fourth single, "Bend Me, Shape Me" that their music took off. The song climbed as high as #5 nationally in early 1968 and that success led to appearances on American Bandstand and other national TV programs.....David Galassie Check out the dance steps by the band. This step was the benchmark move by most bands in the 60's.

In his newly opened exhibition entitled "dérive" at Galerie Yvon Lambert in Paris, Evans manages to create an unstable and ephemeral atmosphere. In the first room, works on paper are displayed in transparent frames mounted on the walls. These oeuvres exhibit barely visible text extracts from the works of authors Stéphane Mallarmé and Marcel Broodthaers. A black monolith fountain trickling water into the basin beneath it stands in the middle of the room, encircled by a light dusting of silver glitter that reflects the stark space. In the second room, a large neon sign etches a sentence into the air of the vast space of the gallery. The phrase, assembled in neon, establishes a critical dialogue between the construction of text and the context of demonstration. "Dérive" is on display in Paris until June 16, 2012. Pooja's optimistic outlook reflects today's never-say-die attitude. A vivacious 17-year-old teenager, Pooja has been brought up with middle class, traditional values and beliefs. But like most teenagers today she is also exposed to everything modern. She respects what her family stands for but at the same time she wishes to spread her wings and fly. She is constantly struggling to make her two worlds meet. Pooja takes her first bold step towards fulfilling her dream of becoming a film director by making the decision to join a 'happening college' like St. Martin's while keeping her father in the dark about this. When Pooja enters the awe-inspiring yet strange world of St. Martin's along with her best friend Mandy, they are immediately thrown into a world of myriad experiences; a culture that is alien, modern and sometimes shocking.
